Players rally to aid woman Bowlers, golfers and billiard players rallied this past weekend to raise more than $1,600 for Jennifer Knight, a 20-year old Collier County women suffering from cystic fibrosis. Tournaments at Woodside Bowling Lanes and Forest Glen golf course, both in Naples, were organized by Bowling Management Associates, which operates three bowling alleys in Collier County. “We had a nice turnout, with 45 entries, bringing in $1,682 from the $65 registration fee, plus donations,” said Donna Cesare, marketing director for the association, who coordinates the corporation's charitable efforts. “What was really nice was Jennifer and her entire family came on Sunday and stayed until the end. People really responded to her and cooperated with us with the strict ‘no smoking' policy in-house while she was visiting.” Cesare said Real Rock 92.5 FM also joined the effort, contributing $215 to the total from employee donations and the one-day sale of T-shirts. Knight is awaiting a double lung transplant and the money raised will be used for after-care, Cesare said. “As long as she continues to have good checkups, we understand she'll remain on the transplant list. Her mother has asked that any money left over from the fund be donated to the local cystic fibrosis foundation to help someone else's child.” Contributions for Knight can be made through the Jennifer Knight Fund at Fifth Third Bank, P.O. Box 413021, Naples, FL 34101. The account is 384-90-690. For more information, call 353-2558.
